awesome awesome. most entertaining two hours of tv i've ever watched. who knows if this weird flash forward, Losties have been rescued plotline will work in s4, but right know I'm thoroughly satisfied.

dom really lucked out with his death scene. i was crying. definitly more poignant than getting shot in the gut, i tell ya.

yay WALT is back! he looks different, but still... WALT!

and Ben is obviously the boy who cried wolf. he lies and lies, and when the Losties finally learn he's not to be trusted is the one time he might actually be telling the truth.

who was in the coffin? guesses?

why was kate not in jail? did people forgive her crime cause of the ordeal she went through on the island?

who did kate want to return to after seeing jack? was it sawyer?

damn... I think my head is going to explode after that ep.

so, why in the "flash forward" did jack say his dad's still alive? If Christian got cured of being dead for the months and months on the island, I'm going to be so pissed at this show.

So who sent the boat? Is it really full of people who want to kill everyone on the island?

Is Patchy dead now?

Why on earth does Jack want to go back to the island? Is it just because he wants to be the important leader again?

Sayid rocked with this neck snapping...so awesome...oh, and I'm finally glad Hurley found that van.

oh, and I'm so mad! The local TV station here interrupted the show to tell me there might be a thunderstorm in a town 60 some miles from here, so I missed a lot of the begginning. >:0

Can;t wait for the podcast, this ep was so insane! Please make it a long one, and explain everything you can, I'm so confused!!!

WOW!

Is Kate with Sawyer in the future?

Who in the world dies in the future?

Who are the "bad" people?

WHAT IS GOING ON?!?!?!?!?!

I am soooo upset we have to wait so long for a new episode!

Is anyone sort of upset that they have showed us the future and we know they get off the island?

Or can they change the future?

By the way...WALT IS BACK!!!! Well, at least a manifestation of him. You can soo tell that he's older! I think they distorted his voice to make him sound like season 2.

WOW WOW WOW WOW!

much better cliffhanger to tide us over until february than the one that end the fall mini season, that's for sure.

sayid ninja skills solidify him as my favorite character, although rose laying the smackdown on jack "if you say 'live together die alone' i'll punch you in the face!" (me too, rose, me too).

is mikhail immortal or something? after suffering from a mild brain hemmorage and a beat down from locke, is his health good enough to overcome an arrow to the chest to go for a swim????

IDEA: naomi wasn't working for penny, but she still had the pic of des&penny and she she penny by name. so i think she was actually working for charles widmore unbeknownst to his daughter

How creepy and father-knows-best did Ben sound "Get your knapsack, I'm leaving in ten minutes."

And the van, I've been wanting to see the van every episode since they found it, I literally was cheering.

OMG F-ing great 2 hours of television!!! WOW. That episode was, in one word... *satisfying*.

Ok, down to business. WTF was up with Penny? She's apparently an Other, aligned with Ben, right? And what is Jack aware of that Kate seems to be denying? Looks like maybe by leaving they cheated fate. Jack seems like a man torn between worlds. Maybe it's literally true. Ben and the Island both didn't want them to leave, which must be why Jacob/Island/Smokie impersonated Walt to convince Locke to stop them leaving. It was an act of desperation, Locke killing Naomi. Until now Locke couldn't kill. But he was willing to kill for the Island. And of course he's staying, so that must mean he will depose Ben, who failed and lied and nobody trusts anymore.

Yeah Justin, I was hoping for more answers, too... especially Island history, but that must be next year. Is ok, I'm happy for now. But... WTF is the Temple? Without Ben though, I think they'll all return to the village instead... it probably doesn't matter.

Anybody know the theme for next season? Cheers. That was a blast.

I just had a thought! Jack caused the car accident, then saved everyone. That could be an analogy for what happened on the Island. Maybe since he got everyone rescued, that means he is somehow responsible for the crash in the first place.

Also, in one reality all the bodies were found in the ocean. In the other reality, many of them survived on the Island. So, since there's apparently no huge scandal or cover up, then they are still in "their" reality. But they're not supposed to be. Ja? My head hurts, hopefully some of this knot gets unraveled over the break.

Another thing... last one... Charlie's note to Desmond (not Penny's boat) seemed so friggin important at the time, and that's a total loose end. Did I miss something?

I should revise my thought on Penny. It could be she's been sending that location a signal ever since the EMP, and it finally went through once Charlie stopped the jamming signal.

"Anybody know the theme for next season?"

this is my theory/speculation: I think season 4 might be about the people in Naomi's boat. Cuselof have also said we will learn more about Jacob in season 4.
I can see the show going two ways right now.

The Losties (or at least Kate and Jack) get rescued and stories start happening off the island.
Or
Ben is right and Naomi's boat is not there to rescue them. Ben also said they would all die if jack called Naomi's boat. They can't all die can they? Maybe Ben was telling half the truth as usual.

By the way when Naomi called her boat and then suddenly died, for a split second I thought by placing the call she had activated some kind of implant inside her and that everyone would start dying. But than I saw Locke had just thrown the knife, which is the first time to our knowledge that he's killed someone.

I also loved all the action in this episode! After the cool first "flash forward" with Jack the episode was kinda slow, but right around when Mikhail appeared in The Looking Glass things started to heat up. The first scene that I remember thinking to myself was a great scene was when Jack and Ben were having they're little chat. I really was hoping that jack would let the three shooters die because usually in movies/tv it never happens that way, so I was happy when it happened. They did kinda do a cop out with having Tom and the rest not obeying Ben, but still it kept things unpredictable which is what I love about Lost.

I wonder if this "flash forward" thing is gonna start happening in other episodes too, or if it's just a little taste of what it will be like for Jack after he gets rescued and it doesn't appear again until near the end of the show.
I tend to think it will be the second option.
I also got reminded of the show Heroes and of future Hiro's timeline and how the futures not written in stone. But I guess this "flash forward" is for real and it can't change, right?

A few more points:

Are Alex/Karl/Rousseau gonna become a happy family now that they're together.

I wish we could have seen "The Temple " this season and learn more about the Hostiles history, but oh well..

What is going to happen to the Others now; they don't like Ben so there probably not try to save him from the Losties. I think they'll apoint a new leader (maybe Richard?) and turn over a new leaf.

Hurley's killed someone! With a VW van of course, but he stll killed someone!

I wonder if ABC had to pay license fees to the Beach Boys?

Was Jacob appearing to john in the form of Walt?

The scene where Charlie died was really sad. And all Desmond could do was watch...

Yes but did he not tell Kate that every Friday he takes a plane to Singapore, Tokyo or Sydney
hoping it would crash. He even said that he does not care what happens to the passengers.

If he has enough money to travel every week, why not just hire his own private plane to fly back to the island?

My season 4 theory - that this really is a flash forward. That means each of them will get to see what their life will be if they are rescued and each then decides to stay on the island or leave.

My first thought is that Jack wants to stay and Kate wants to leave.

Good point! That might actually reinforce my theory. Could be he's special and that's what happened the first time. As far as money, they said something about a "golden" pass, I assume because of the crash that was part of their compensation. Cheers.

Not sure how helpful this is, but this is from Lostpedia, who probably got it from ABC, regarding Season 4...

"The band of friends, enemies and strangers continue to work together to stay alive. But as they have discovered during their 70-plus days on the island, danger and mystery loom behind every corner, and those they thought could be trusted may turn against them. Even heroes have secrets."

5/24/2007 06:37:00 AM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

Yes, I know they definitive answer on the crash was Desmond not pushing the button, but it could still be Jack was thinking that and it coincidentally happaned. His father had just drunk himself to death, and wife wasn't coming back, so it wouldn't be a stretch.

I honestly, really don't know what to say. On some level I liked this episode, on some level it was a letdown.

I hate to brag but once I saw Jack on the phone in his car I immediately thought his flashback was in the future and he was talking to Kate; and the Razorphone reinforced that idea (and so did Jack getting fired). But it was fun that my prediction had come true by the end.

So obviously Season Four is going to pick up where the Season Three cliffhanger leaves off, because there's not much in between the final siland scene and the rescue party saving them, right? The way I see it is either this is genius or it's jumping the shark. I think what they're trying to do is find a way to set up a scenario that has the cast actually wanting answers to mysteries on the island instead of just seeking rescue. Because before, in previous seasons, Jack was solely interested in getting rescued. Now he wants to go back and be the man of faith. This is a way to solve mysteries now because they obviously have to *find* the island first, and possibly take a government organization with them.

BUT HERE'S AN INSANE THEORY THAT COULD POSSIBLY BE CRACKPOT...
What if Jack meant he wants to "go back" as in he wants to go back IN TIME??!! This could also be am amazing turning point or a stupid cop-out.

And is Christian Shephard alive? Why isn't Kate arrested? Another timeline?

Was the Penny scene before or after this cliffhanger? Did Jack hire Penny to find the island?

If Naomi is fake, why introduce the 'survivors are dead' storyline?

Was Ben right about rescue getting them killed?

Dr. Gary Nadler... Related to Bernard?

What does the season three ending mean for other flashbacks? Will there be flashbacks in future seasons?

In the season 2 finale we met the two guys in the ice station talking to Penny. It was the first off island - real time scene.

We do not get another Penny off island scene until the season 3 finale.

SO SEASON 4
Will completely ignore Jack's flash-forward until the season 4 finale.

radnac,

i too predicted it was a flashforward. i just assumed that it would be something different since they played around with the flashback convention throughout the season.
but that doesnt mean there weren't any surprises. i'm gonna go on a long rant now so bare with me. its a collection of my recent thoughts on the show which might spark some debate.

i'm glad that naomi was finally found out. there was always something fishy about her. 'her' boat and the 'rescue' team should provide some fun for next season. i hope there's gonna be some island-wide extermination program, and the only way to prevent the big bad is for the losties and the others to unite. highly anticipating this temple as well.

hurley with the van was a bit of fun, and sayid pulling a kickarse move out of nowhere was interesting.

one important question - why oh why didnt locke just pull the trigger? jack has always annoyed the bejesus out of me, and everytime i see him on screen i want someone to come out of the bushes and beat him to death with the back of a shovel. we know they've got them on the island. the flashback or flashforwards now, are meant to elaborate and help us understand the characters, but i still can't pin him down. he definitely isnt the best choice for leader, he is too emotional, smug, arrogant, closed-minded and an all round pussy. or is it just mathew fox's acting that bugs me? at least he should get his comeuppance when desmond reveals the penny thing.

and dont get me started on this whole ridiculous love triangle/quadrangle bullshit there giving us. does anyone really care? and more importantly do we need a good show like lost to keep dishing out shit primetime romance. the writers are good with the mythology and action stuff but leave the romance alone guys.

the 'death' of bernie, sayid and jin was good. but we all knew this was a lie right. 3 actors, 2 of them major ones, were not gonna kick the bucket. the reveal of them on the beach with tom and ryan was a bit hokey for my liking. i think the ben / jack scene would have played the same even if we the audience knew it was a lie. tom dying was a bit of a shock. even more shocking was the close up of sawyers face that lasted about 20 seconds. what the hell was up with that? heightening the drama? i think not. lost is directed extremely well dont get me wrong, but this was one of those examples of bad, and very simple direction. another example was the close up of bens walkie when he was walking away from jack, just before jack swiped it off him. sloppy direction like that spoils things like jacks move because we knew then and there something was going to happen with the walkie. its the 'the weapons kicked out my hands but look very closely it's right over there so you the audience dont get confused' shot. cant stand it.

charlies death was satisfactory. when he saw mikhail with the grenade, i asked why didnt he quickly run and shut the door behind him? there was ample time by the looks of it. and all i could think of is that he knew the flashes were going to continue and he was destined to die so he essentially gave up. i would have preffered a better death where there wasnt any sure way to avoid it. anywho, the 'not pennys boat' thing was well done.

guess we will have to wait till next year to find out the alex / danielle / ben thing. the reunion was brief and not too sentimental which was nice. the 'lets tie him up line' gave good levity to the scene.

loved the walt thing, but his appearance was ruined since the actors name was in the credits at the beginning. why do they keep doing this? the same goes for sonya walger / penny. its gotta be a contractual thing because they could easily leave them to the end credits. anyway, i agree with the jacob / apparition theory which is floating around here.

on the whole a decent episode/s. i wanted a bit more but i was certainly not disappointed. cant wait for the podcast. anyone want to start betting on the running time - i say 08h:37m:19s.

This episode was absolutely brilliant. I wasn't spoiled for any of it, except I knew some people were going to die. I don't understand why anyone wants to read spoilers, especially really big ones. I've read spoilers before, and it's just so much more exciting to not know what's going on.
When we saw Kate at the end I said "Oh, what?" which was probably a lot of other peoples reaction. And, even though I'm an atheist, the shot of Charlie crossing himself made me cry. It was very powerful that he had that belief and it gave him comfort just before he died.

I LOVED this episode. All I could say was "wow" for a while after it.

I noticed Jack's phone too but I didn't think it was a flash forward. I just thought prop error or something.

I feel like Ben might actually be teling (some form of) the truth this time. But why do ppl other than the Others want to kill the Losties?

Who's funeral did Jack go to? Ben's? Maybe John? It has to be someone from the island, but somebody that Kate doesn't like I guess.

I totally saw Walt's name in the opening credits and freaked out. I was hoping he wasn't gonna be in the background of Jack's flash back.

The "Naomi working for Widmore" theory could actually make sense. Maybe. I dunno.

And didn't Alex know about the pregnancy = death thing? So wouldnt she and Karl be careful? Maybe if Ben talked to her for once Karl wouldn't have to be brainwashed.

Just came up with a possible theory about Naomi/the ship:
I didn't follow The Lost Experience, but I've read the main bits and seen some of the videos. Thomas Mittlewerk, the renegade crazy Hanso employee, was supposedly using a medical ship, the "Helgus Antonius", to follow the route of Magnus Hanso's Black Rock. Could this be the ship that Naomi says she's from? And could Naomi be working for Mittlewerk? Mittlewerk was obsessed with saving humanity and needed to test a virus to check if the mortality rate would be 30%. Maybe he wanted to test on the island, because of its special attributes.

Do you think there is anyway that Jacob is the one who dies and is in the casket?

Read the entry and you'll see why...the supposed "Jo..." could pass for a "Ja..." (talking about the name on the article). Plus, we don't know Jacob's last name...

Hey, anything's possible!

Alice,

I had that theory too and I've seen other people have it on various forums etc. around the net. The only problem with it is that The Lost Experience took place in the present time when it was going on (Summer 2006) so unless time on the island is slower than time in the real world, (Late December 2004 - Island time
Summer 2006 - Real world time) It wouldn't work.

I still haven't wrapped my mind around that episode. In a lot of ways, I say kudos to D & C, and in a lot of ways, I'm pissed at them for having to wait so long to he how the story goes from here.

I was completely spoiler free and didn't see any of it coming. Thought Jack's "flashback" was either right before or right after his time in Puket, was too busy trying to figure out which it was to think that it could have been a flashforward.

It definitely had me on the edge of my seat, and I did several fist pumps during the Hurley/van scene. I completely bought that Sayid, Jin and Bernard had been killed.

And yeah, I completely bought Naomi, even after Ben warned Jack. At this point I'm assuming Naomi's boat is Widmore-related. Naomi having the picture of Des and Penny makes that a reasonable theory I think.

And I think Penny is doing her own search, we saw that at the end of season 2.

Jack's flashfoward? I remain really confused. Claude and Justin, I task you with explaining this all to us in the podcast.

obviously the person in the coffin is someone important right? but what if it was just one of the losties, not necessarily one of the main people, just one of the plane survivors. and jack seems upset at their death or at least fixated on it, because the rescue of them (caused by jack - his mistake) brought them back to the 'real world' and hence their death.

the end scene sort of alluded that all the losties are now involved in a coverup, thats why he said he's sick of lying. and maybe thats why no-one turned up at the funeral - they weren't supposed to, as kate sort of implied with the 'why would i go' line.

i think the people onboard naomi's freighter will somehow recruit the losties as a sort of way to get them off the island. how this makes them the bad guys i guess we will find out.

it could be that the coffin guy is someone yet to seen, but i like the idea of it being someone insignificant and the real importance being what their death means to jack, and how its related to all of them off island.

Lindelof said... "There's really one significant missing piece to Libby's story. How did she get from A to B—from Desmond to the mental institution?"

Given Jack's psychosis, is it possible that Hurley and Libby's stay at the mental institution was actually a flash forward, not a flash back? I know, Libby is dead... in one timeline ;)

5/26/2007 08:18:00 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

What I'm proposing is that when Desmond turned the key, he created a 2nd timeline. One where Kate is not a fugitive, one where Jack had a beard, etc. If that's the case then maybe people that are in both timelines, or dead in one but not the other, slowly go crazy because they have memories of both, or the wrong memories, or something.

This was posted over at the Fuselage as a version from someone that they suspect works on the show:

"The body of John Lantham of New York was found shortly after 4 am in the 4300 block of Grand Avenue.

Ted Worden, a doorman at the Tower Lofts complex, heard loud noises coming from the victim's loft.

Concerned for tenants' safety, he entered the loft and found the body hanging from a beam in the living room.

According to Jaime Ortiz, a police spokesman, the incident was deemed a suicide after medical tests. Latham (sic) is survived by one teenaged son.

Memorial services will be held at the Hoffs-Drawlar Funeral Home tomorrow evening."

so my guess is its Michael or someone we haven't met.

Blogger You-Know-Who said...

The two big theory's about the "Rattlesnake" that I've seen are:

1.It was a flashfoward.

Evidence:

The funeral home, Hoffs-Drawler is an anagram for flashfoward.

2.It is a different time line.

Evidence:

"Through the Looking Glass" implies mirrors and reflections; Something that seems the same but is really slightly different.

The guy on the other end of the sat phones name is Minkowski which could be a reference to Hermann Minkowski, the early twentieth century German mathematician-physicist who described time as a fourth dimension. (Lostpedia)

Jack mentions to bring his dad down so he can see if he's drunker then him, implying that he thinks his dad is alive.

Cuselof said on their podcast that they didn't really want to say anything about the last scene of the finale, because they wanted the fans to continue debating it. This is what they were talking about. We have two very good theory's but only one can be true.

I think she was referring to Sawyer after he killed Cooper. After something like that your bound to have a wide range of mixed emotions.

It's interesting, I thought Sawyer would feel a little lighter after getting rid of the man who made his life hell, but I guess he's just confused about his intentions and also feeling a little guilty in some way.

Just an observation:
Oxycotin (sp?) is a very regulated drug. You have to have a prescription slip everytime you get a refill of this drug. You can't have refills called in or refills on the prescription slip you give to the pharmacy. so Jack saying he had refills on the prescription was wrong.
Unless he was getting a prescription for Vicodin. Now i think Vicodin can be refilled via phone or on a prescription slip.

Oxycodin can definetely not be refilled without another slip from your doctor.

was this a writers error??

Oxycodin is the drug that Rush Limbaugh was caught with.

It is an addictive pain killer and nicknamed Hillbilly Heroin.

According to Wikipedia:
Nausea, drowsiness, constipation, lightheadedness, rash or itchiness, dizziness, and emotional mood disorders are the most frequently reported side effects. Other side effects can also include dry mouth and ****slightly decreased testosterone levels**** in men. Oxycodone accumulates in patients with renal or liver impairment, and dose reductions may be needed.

---

After rescuing Mrs. Arlen and her son, from a flaming vehicle, he probably could have gotten a pain reliever prescription from one of the other doctors, claiming he hurt himself. Being a doctor in a hospital he could have with little trouble secured a prescription blank and forged new prescriptions.

The weren't SUPPOSED to LEAVE? Will Hurley Finance a grand expedition BACK to Lost Island ?A sort of AntiHanso? Will that be the point of the rest of the series.. returning to their paradise lost? OR Are we seeing multiple universes? Is Lost Island the center of the multiverse? A place outside of TIME? DID the Losties escape into the RIGHT multiverse? Or are they in a world foreign to them?In Either scenario, have they Destroyed the Balance by LEAVING and now must return to find any happiness, any PEACE ? I Have NO Idea!!! I Can't WAIT to SEE!!!! WHY Oh WHY Isn't there an ARG to keep me going WHY? Lost is to me what Oxycodone is to Jack!! I NEED MY FIX!!!

Vicki H,
I had 3 back surgeries in the last 5 years. I was on Oxycodone and Vicodin. I can concur with your analysis of the refills of those two drugs.
Since my doctor could not give me refills, he would prescribe one bottle of 90 pills at a time. Once that bottle ran out, I would have to have someone pick up another physical prescription from my dr's office. He was not legally allowed to call refills into the pharmacy.
One of my good friends is a dentist and he told me that the drug company even stopped sending him samples, like Jack stole, because they were too easy for addicts to steal. Was that a run on sentence?
Love,
Paul

Oceanic Air went out of business in September 2004 due to the crash of 815.
I seriously doubt another company would buy up Oceanic and use their name and give gold passes to those who crashed.

Oceanic out of business in 2004 and Jack flies Oceanic in 2007.

Hey guys,

Well it's midnight here in Texas, on Sunday the 27th, and I just watched the episode!

Like Justin said, I've been out of town, very busy, and haven't had a chance to see the ep until now.

I am trying to clear my schedule so that Justin and I can podcast Tuesday. If not, it will be Thursday, when I get back to LA.

Boy, what to say, what to say?

I absoutely loved Jack's FS (Front Story). It was wonderfully paced, acted, and shot. It felt like an small independent film about a doctor dealing with great pain, loss, and regret. Foxy needs and Emmy for this ep, seriously.

I really thought Sarah was going to show up in the end, but then Kate stepped out. And for literally a half second I thought Kate and Jack had known each other in the past. I immediately thought to when he said he loved her earlier in the ep.

Kate looks really great in the future. Soft lighting and flawless makeup really can do wonders. But maybe it's just that we're so used to seeing her dirty all the time?

I too saw Jack's phone and recognized it as too new. Then Jack said his dad was upstairs, and even though I had mentally placed Jack's story as pre plan crash, I just knew Christian was dead. It seemed clear to me that Jack made a mistake, cause by his intoxication. And I didn't beleive that he could be hooked on drugs, then clean himself up and subsequently go to Sydney to save his dad, then wind up on the island and his drug addition never come up. The Others would have known about it!

So I guess what I'm saying is that until the end, I never really could find a place for when Jack's story was taking place. It just sat in limbo in my mind, while I focused on the other craziness going on. I never would have beleived it was a FS, but it didn't make sense as a BS.

I think we all should have known it was post-crash since Sarah was pregnant.

Remember when I said that I would never like Locke again? Well, I'm not ready to recant that statment just yet, but I think I can see myself doing that in S4.

And Jack... He too lost me (sorry for the pun) along the way this season. But Matthew's BRILLIANT performace in both storylines, and of course his plot, really made me like Jack again. He is different, but he's still Jack.

I can't wait to podcast. I want to do it right now!!! I know you guys want to hear it, but just hang in there a little bit longer.

I really think we will be able to talk about this ep for a long time. And I think we can even do several podcasts over the LONG ASS BREAK! dicussing theories about what's going on. So get ready!

Jacob in the casket? No way. I thought it was Juliet, until I saw the clipping said it was a man.
(Sex change?) It's tricky to guess who it is. It's someone that both Kate and Jack know, but someone who Kate doesn't like, or doesn't feel close enough to attend their funeral. And with not a single other person at the funeral...sorry, viewing, this person doesn't have any friends or family (that cares about them). Maybe it's Ben? But the "survived by a teenage son" thing doesn't make sense. I guess it's Michael. But why would Kate be so bitchy about not going? Oh wait, he killed two people. Yep, it's Michael. I guess he just changed his name so he wouldn't go to jail?

Oh, and I hated how Charlie died. He could have closed the door from the other side, or just let the water come in while he and "Des" got the scuba gear, or just dove into the moon pool and swam to the surface. But I'm glad he's dead, and not becuse I dislike the character, but because he needed to. And they actually followed through. I hate to say it, but I'll miss the sodding bugger.

Also, I totally agree with you about Foxys acting, it was absolutely brilliant. The acting on this show is so much better than a lot of other things on tv (Definitely better then Heroes).

Other great performances I remember from this season are: Josh in The Brig, Dom in Greatest Hits, AAA in Cost of Living, and Elizabeth Mitchell and Micheal Emerson in One of Us. Henry (Desmond) and Terry (Locke) were also really good this season.

I agree, Fox was just outstanding.

I think it was Michael for four reasons:

a) Kate wouldn't go to his viewing
b) Survived by a teenage son
c) He probably had to change his name as all the 815ers were supposed to be dead so its a name we haven't heard before
d) We know the actor's signed on with another show and won't be on Lost so they don't really lose a character by having him "dead" but add a mystery to the finale

Can't wait till your podcast, guys!

Wow Claude... I don't know how you waited so long to watch it... I agree with almost everything you said... But I didn't catch the phone thing...

From the opening shot of the show, I placed Jack on a flight back from Puhket, and I didn't even question it again until Kate showed up... Looking back, I think Jack's beard was a subtle trick they used to coax us into thinking "flashback"... on the island there is a lot of grey in Jack's stubble, but his beard was totally dark... very tricky Cuselof!

And I also think that it's Michael in the casket... I think he assumed a new identity when he got back... OK, now I've got a theory:

Naomi's boat was sent by Charles Widmore... He gave her the picture because he knows where Desmond is, he just can't find the island... My bet is that Widmore used to fund the Dharma Initiative and now he wants to shut down the island because he figured out that the Hostiles took over (maybe from Locke entering "77")... So when Desmond gets back to tell everyone about the boat, the Others and the Losties will actually team up to fight them... Ultimately, it will be Michael who leads a rescue team back to the island, and we'll get a big reveal when he tells them his new name (the blogosphere has determined that the obituary was for someone named "Jeremy Bantham")

Seriously, I think you guys could podcast weekly about this episode alone for the entire 8 months

By the way... I'm most intrigued about a word that was said only once during the entire episode:

Temple

What the fuck.

I know we are all diehard LOST fans and we make think of the acting on LOST is incredible.

So I really made the effort to rewatch some episodes and try my best to be objective.

I can not find one bad actor in the entire cast.

So I then looked at an episode of the NINE and could not find one single believable actor with the exception of Chi McBride, the acting is horrendous.

The only other show that I can think of that comes close to the acting on LOST is the SOPRANOS. But even on the SOPRANOS you will have a number of clinkers. LOST is certainly in class of its own.

The person in charge of casting for LOST is incredible and so is the directing.

The closest I came to thinking they were bad actors were Maggie Grace and Dominic Monaghan. But both of them proved themselves to not just be good actors but believable.

I've been thinking why Locke's legs sometimes stop working, like they did in the finale. I think it happens when Locke has lost hope/faith.
Maybe he could walk again when he came to the island not because of the island and it's healing powers, but because of himself.

When Locke was getting on the plane he was depressed and lonely, his girlfriend had dumped him, his dad had made him disabled, he had a boring office job doing mindless paper work and his only hope of adventure and the only thing he was looking forward to was denied to him because of his disability. When he went all the way to Sydney for the Walkabout and was rejected because of his disability he lost his hope, he was angry that he was disabled and that he was denied adventure because of it... he wished that he wasn't disabled... he wished that he could walk at the walkabout and be one with nature and be one with the... and then he crashed... it was the perfect escape that he needed... he couldn't go back to his job, he was in the middle of a wide stretch of nature, he was saved from his hopeless life, he could walk again.

When Locke was in the mass Dharma grave he had lost his hope that the island was the place for him so he lost the use of his legs, but Walt appeared and convinced him that it was all in his mind, if he just had hope, if he just overcame his mental block, he would be better... it's about mind over matter...

Locke is special, like Walt. Like Ben said Locke has healing powers, and he can heal himself and others around him if he just had hope and faith. When Locke was off the island he could survive a 8 story drop but he still lost the use of his legs, when he's on the island he gets shot and is walking around without a problem later. It's because the island has restored Locke's hope and faith. Locke always had healing powers but he didn't have hope and the island gave him that, now Locke is invincible.

Claude,

wow, what willpower you must have had to wait until yesterday to watch the finale. i could barely make through wednesday with the anticipation. anyway, i totally agree with you about Jack, Foxy really brought it this episode, despite the fact that Jack is probably my least favorite character. I'm sort of upset, though, because almost everyone submitted a crappy episode for the Emmy nomination consideration (Foxy did A Tale of Two Cities, Holloway did Every Man For Himself, when he clearly should've submitted The Brig.) Since the second half of the season seemed much stronger to me than the first I feel like they are shooting themselves in the foot for winning Emmys by making poor episode selections... but oh well.

On to your point about Charlie:
I really liked his death scene, my favorite in the history of LOST. I think the point was that Charlie could have tried to escape, but he had already resolved to follow his supposed destiny, lest the Losties not get rescued and Desmond got more flashes. He willingly put a stop to it which was heroic and tragic. Of course it's possible he could've avoided it, but then the storyline A) wouldn't have been as poignant and B) would've meant the continuation of Charlie being saved and Desmond having more flashes of impending doom. A storyline I think definitely needed to be resolved. In short, I agree that Charlie could've lived, but that he chose to die on faith that Desmond's predictions about rescue would be realized.

FeFeMartini,

I said Michael (not Jack) probably changed his name since he was one of the first to be 'rescued' when no 815ers were supposed to be alive.

Bruce,

that was actually my post FeFeMartini quoted. Interesting, I didn't know the show Harold Perrineau was supposed to be on wasn't picked up.

I think that almost guarantee's his return in season 4, and since we're 3 years ahead in the flash forward, they can use that to explain Walt's growth and bring him back.

it would be cool if Jacob was the one who died though...you have to admit that...

I just don't understand why Locke did not shoot Jack!?! Not just because I wanted him to die at the moment (I was so annoyed at him), but mostly because Locke seemed SOO determined to do it! He even said: "You're not supposed to do this." Why did he just walk away like a sad dog?

Whatever is going through his mind...I suppose I still trust him becuase it appears that the island has kept a plan for him and he has "work to do."

I still am a little shady on the flash fowards. They remind me of other shows I've seen..and I've always seen LOST in a unique view...I don't know, it's just wierd. However, I trust the producers to carry out the rest of the series with the same amount of suspense and thrill.

I still LOVE Juliet's character, but I can't get why Jack kisses her and then confesses his love to Kate! What is going on with him?

You won't believe this, but at the end of the ep when the Volvo was pulling up, I thought a man was going to step out and reveal that Jack was bi...though that wouldn't be a HUGE series twist or anything, I did think that they were going to throw that at us...but I am very glad that they didn't, regardless.

FeFe,

I also thought they were gonna reveal that Jack was bi. It was because when he was on the phone in the room with the maps it sounded to me like a man on the other end of the phone. Plus the producers have talked about a gay character and we never really saw that happen this season. I'm glad that wasn't the rattlesnake though...:)

Jack bi? That would have been a twist. And I think I would have really liked it, strange as it would be...

Redhead,

I took the Jack and Juliet kiss as Juliet kissing Jack, not the other way around. I think Jack loves Kate, but knows they could never work together. The real question is why did Juliet kiss Jack. I'm not totally convinced that Juliet doesn't have ulterior motives. her lie about the gun cache was too effortless. I think she learned a lot from Ben.

Jane,

I agree with you about Charlie. I guess I just wanted it to be a little more realistic, but you're right, the point is that he made the choice to die. I wouldn't call him a hero though, but he went out like a champ.

Vicki,

I hope you do feel better after the podcast...

Everyone,

It looks like Justin and I will be podcasting Thursday. I know you guys want it now, but I'm out of town and won't be back until Thursday. I thought tomorrow (Tuesday) would work. And if we did a little 30min or 90min podcast, I could pull it off. But you guys know how we do it, long and strong ["That's what she said"].

The good news is that I have absolutely nothing to do on Thursday, and as along as my apt doesn't burn down or something, things should go as planned. I'll be surprised if the podcast is under 7 hours. It might be 8. I'd love for it to be 10 just for the milestone that would be, but we can only talk as much as there is in the ep.

So hang in there a couple more days!!

Also, I really want to say [again] that I/we really love you guys. You're the best Lost fans out there, and you guys are the reason we go through the trouble to podcast.

And, just a heads up: Get ready for the 2nd Lost Lowdown Trivia Contest Sweepstakes Giveaway (TM)

Obviously from my earlier posts I love Lost. However, is anybody else more than a little pissed that the four toed statue from season 2 wasn't addressed? I thought for sure if I watched another whole season I'd get to know. That was pretty disappointing, I'm sorry to say.

Now for the Runway :) I've hardly heard a mention of it since the show. They're building a runway. WTF? They surely despise visitors or anybody knowing exactly where the island is. And supposedly it's only accessible via the good old underwater worm hole. So again I ask, WTF is up with them building a runway?

Can't wait for the podcast! Actually, I think delaying the last one maybe is good. It'll shorten the time I have to wait between that and next season ;) And maybe you'll have more time to process everything before podcasting. Though that's never been a problem before, so, oh well. Hear ya then! ;)

Okay, I found a transcript... "So, when you pulled us out of those polar bear cages and put us on the chain gang, what the hell did you have us breaking all those rocks for anyway?" Juliet: "We were building a runway." Sawyer:" Runway? For what?" Juliet: "The Aliens. (smiles) I don't know what for, do you think they told me everything?"

I assumed when she said "I don't know what for" she meant she didn't know what the runway was for. Maybe she meant she didn't know what the breaking rocks was for. Hmmmmm.

Here is some more insight into who the gay character might be, from Kristin's recent true or false interview with Damon.

Kristen: Tom is gay.
Damon: I'll leave that open to interpretation.

Heres the link: http://www.eonline.com/gossip
/kristin/detail/index.jsp?uuid=

6b982fbd4e87

Theres some other interesting things that Damon said Like:

Kristin: The role of Jacob has been cast.
Damon: False.

Kristin: False? Okay, interesting. People were having all sorts of interpretations of what he looked like.
Damon: You do see a guy, but...I'm still sticking to my false.

So if Jacob has not been cast yet they really could have used Terry as Jacob, it makes sense if there filming the scene to use an actor thats in the scene rather then bring in a new one. So maybe it really is Locke in that scene (But Locke is not Jacob).

She should have asked Damon who plays the temporary Jacob.

youknowwho- nice info! That might mean since Jacob is a current character, and he hasn't been cast yet, it could be a character that can't be cast. He could be a representation of the island itself. Or it could be a spiritual mirror of sorts. He merely personifies and reflects what you want deep down. Though that's a bit out there for primetime; first one is more likely of the two.

OMG, that's hilarious... Fashion runway. It's for Jacob, a disembodied male supermodel.

Hmm, I always thought Ben and Tom were a couple. Especially early in season 3. Not sure why they announced they would reveal a gay character, and then be ambiguous about it. Does everything have to be a f-ing mystery with this show? ;)

paul, i have chronic back problems (sciatica-- after i slipped on some stairs by a jacuzzi) and i have to go to the doctor every month to get a refill. i use to go to the doctor every other month and he would give me a prescription and then the next month i could pick it up at his office without seeing him. but the law changed and i have to go every month and pay for a visit.
and yes i agree the doctor can't call it in.
so i don't see how Jack could get those refills.

GUYS, it can't be Michael in the coffin because

[Rumor Alert]

Harold Perrineau has been offered a spot as series regular, supposedly appearing in the flashforwards next season. So unless these flashforwards will include a flashback from the flashforward that illustrates how he got into the coffin, I don't know...

5/30/2007 04:35:00 AM
Blogger radnac said...

And regarding the medication... The way I saw it, Jack was obviously just making an excuse by saying it was his father's prescription. Especially after he told the pharmacist to forget about it, I thought we were supposed to assume that he was lying. But the next scene where Jack asks for his father is too puzzling for me to theorize on, but there's a theory on that subject on TheTailSection though.

And secondly, why isn't anyone talking about Juliet's answer to Sawyer? They're building a runway! Are they using it for evacuation purposes? Are they expecting an arrival?

5/30/2007 04:43:00 AM

Radnac,

The runway is a big question. I thought at first she was going to say that she didn't know what they were building, or that they were just pretending to build something. Then she hits us with the "runway." But since she follows it with the obvious joke that it's for the "aliens," I wonder if the runway line was part of the joke also...

If it truly is a runway, my first question is "How in the hell do these guys think they know how to build a runway!?" But that doesn't really matter, maybe one of the others is an engineer. As for purpose: I don't believe that Ben would want anyone leaving, so I would have to say that they are expecting someone. And it's interesting to think they this someone/people can presumably only arrive by plane.

I feel like Juliet's answer is a little misleading at best, and when we finally find out what they were building, we will be like "Oh... a runway" or something like that.

radnac, I think they might be going the way of the "The Nine"... ie. the flashbacks we see next season are before the flashforward but after the island. That would explain how Michael could be alive but still be the one in the coffin.

I would hate if they did that but it wouldn't surprise me. All the clues point to Michael so I can't see it being anyone else.

Claude,

I think the runway has already been used, to bring in Anthony Cooper!

You'd discussed on your show at the time how he must have been recently brought to the island, and had he been flown in?

He's the only arrival we know of to othersville this season. Probably came with Richard who we hadn't seen on island before we'd seen Cooper! He was in the states when the plane crashed, then was called back by Ben, did he fly back with Cooper and land on the runway on Hydra island?

It'd surely make the most sense! Or it could be something we've had no hint at, but I'd prefer this.

We know everyone wouldn't have heard a plane - only the people directly beneath it heard Naomi's helicopter!

PS: This season was about The Others. And by the end of the season they've been wiped out!!!
There's hardly any force left, the 10 killed at the beach had to be their main military wing (as some others are doctors, lab techs, kids, Cindy etc...).

Then there's Greta, Bonnie & Mikhail (sorry that grenade was to close for even him to survive!).

They're surely not much of a threat to the now highly armed losties (who let's face it are not getting off the island any time soon - that call was bad, they confirmed it pretty clearly with the "not Penny's boat".

dr quartermass,

do we know if they actaully finished building the runway, though? if that's what it is (and i'm feeling very new year's justin right now, so i'm taking juliet at her word), it seemed very early on in the construction when kate & sawyer were working on it. we don't know if they stopped working on it after they escaped. it seemed to me they'd be a little preoccupied by their ranks dying (colleen, pickett), the losties escaping, and ben's compromised state of health... but who knows maybe they completed it just in time for a. coop! also wouldn't the beach losties have noticed a plane landing somewhere on the island?

you know who & everyone,

i think in that article damon also confirmed that the Others were in danger of extinction. as far as i know that theory has only been speculation so far and could mean anything: that naomi's boat finding the island could cause them extinction, that the assault on the island ben referred to would cause their extinction, and/or obviously their fertility problem.

this is obviously a complicated plot line that we probably won't fully understand until the end of the show but it begs the question: ben, and a few Others were not always Others (in that they were Dharma or people like Cindy and the kids, or recruits like Juliet) and then there are what seem to be the original Others (like Richard). How did it evolve that the Hostiles and everyone they gained from other means to become what is now the Others, is endanger of the same thing? All the Others are supposedly stronger from some reason (source: Michael Emerson interview), but clearly they weren't all born that way and clearly it's not just being on the island, otherwise the Losties would be just as strong. I guess my question is, are the Others really all the same despite their varying origins? Does the island and outside influences affect them all the same way? Or are some Others more vulnerable than other ones, depending?

5/30/2007 12:27:00 PM
Blogger You-Know-Who said...

I like your theory about the runway, dr quatarmass, it makes the most sense. Though jane doe is right, would they really have time to complete it in that amount of time? Though with Lost you never know, for instance why didn't Jack or anyone notice that it took very long for Charlie to flick the switch (making the light on the phone turn green) in a station that they think is flooded.

Regarding the survival of the Others, I've heard theory's suggesting that next season the Others and the Losties will band together against whoever is coming on Naomi's boat. I think that would be kinda stupid, and I don't see why the Losties would do that unless they're under extraordinary circumstances. Even if ten of the Others are dead they're still 20 of them who took part in kidnapping the tail section people, Walt, And Jack Kate and Sawyer, I don't think the Losties will forgive them that fast. Plus why would the Others band with a group that just killed ten of there guys.

I think the Others will go there own way (to the temple?), and the Losties will deal with they're own problem separately, the stories might converge sometime but I wouldn't like to see the Losties and the Others band together.

5/30/2007 12:42:00 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

you know who,

i agree that the losties and others banding together doesn't seem very plausible. for one thing, it seemed to me that Jack's flashforward illustrated that the Losties (or at least Kate and Jack) thought they wanted to be rescued at the time, and Jack only realized his mistake after his re-entry to the real world. For the Losties to side with the Others they'd have to trust Ben (and Locke's) claims that they shouldn't leave the island. If that's true then it would seem like Jack and Kate were forced to leave the island by someone or something. I know it's our only flash foward so far, and with LOST that boils down to not much information at all... but I just think the Jack realizes Locke and Ben were right until AFTER they made the wrong decision which means they would never become true allies on island.

What I think is more likely for next season is that Jack continues to be incredulous of Ben's claims, but the Others and Locke band together to thwart Naomi's rescue team, meaning the Losties get rescued some other way (and also allowing the writers to continue the island story for a longer period of time... if the Losties get rescued and everyone on the island dies in the s4 premiere that would leave A LOT of island mystery unanswered and we wouldn't have any way in flashbacks to answer them... unless people like Jacob and Alpert also get "rescued" and then have island flashbacks while they live in the real world... which maybe, but, meh). That way we can continue the tension between Losties and Others, including the side-switching with Locke and then Alex and Karl-- which should hopefully unravel more layers of the island mystery.

Jane Doe,

Yeah, I could see that happening - but if Locke blows the freighter up or something I will be annoyed, he's already blown up too many things!
I could definitely see Locke and the Others using dynamite from the black rock or something to blow up Naomi's boat, It's just the writers have already used that kind of storyline a lot and I would like to see something more original and new happen.

Just because the funeral parlor is in a black neighborhood doesn't mean that the deceased person also lived there, does it?

radnac,
no of course it doesn't. i just think that people are using everything as a clue, since it's an intriguing mystery and it's LOST.

obviously whoever died had no one to arrange an expensive funeral for him (it was just a viewing after all), hence no one but jack showing up. i think the neighborhood signified more that whoever died was maybe isolated without very much means for whatever reason, and this was the cheapest funeral he could afford.

it could still be michael of course, but i don't think the fact that they were in a black neighborhood is really a clue to the race of the deceased. Lost seems to like to be more complicated than that.

At first I wasn't on board with the "Michael-in-the-casket" camp because I thought the black neighborhood was too obvious, but I've changed my mind because it's the only character we know that makes sense in terms of the story (of course, it could be a character we haven't met yet - in that case, all bets are off)...

I really don't think it's Ben or Locke because either of them would rather die than leave the island, and I don't think they would ship the body to LA for a cheap viewing... I don't think it's any of the other LOSTies because no one else has done anything that would cause Kate such indifference... I guess Sawyer or Sayid could do something in the future to betray everyone, but if rescue is imminent then I don't see that happening...

As far as the black neighborhood being too obvious, remember when Christian Shephard went to Australia? All we saw was a blond woman with an Australian accent and we all jumped on the Claire bandwagon - and it turned out to be true... so this isn't that much of a stretch to buy into...

Just my thoughts, I could be (and usually am) wrong.

Good point.

The neighborhood thing isn't all there is to go on though. In the article it mention that the man is survived by a teenage son, and that he was from New York. Both fit for Michael and not for anyone else on the island.

Yeah, it is a fashion runway for huge 4 toed statues.

And speaking of the statue [segue]
am I wrong that S4 was supposed to deal with the history of the island? I vaguely remember Darlton mentioning that S1 was the Losties, S2 was the hatch & Tailies, S3 was the Others & S4 was the history. Of course it does not matter what S4 is about I will be watching no matter what. I am hooked and I need more LOST. I am already looking forward to the S3 DVD to see any interesting special features.

And to Claude, I know it is hard to wait to watch LOST late but I completly understand not watching until you can devote your time to it. I always Tivo Lost and then watch it when the kids are in bed so I will not be interupted.

IT DOESN'T ADD UP!

I know we are all trying to be Politically Correct and I know that sometimes we get bit in the ass when we are not. I originally thought Mr. Eko was Bernard Eko.

However prop errors are part of LOST. Didn't Ben give Juliet a chart of her sister's cancer and it said Male 180 pounds. We saw 2 different props that contradicted Locke's birth date. There was a flight ticket for Jack that had a 2009 date, which Lindeloff stated was a prop error.

That said, I would not rely heavily on the prop, it is either misleading as a red herring or just a prop.

i am starting to really believe it is suppose to be Michael.

1. teenage son
2. from New York
3. nobody came (maybe Walt gave up on his father for not saving the people on the island or for leaving Vincent on the island)
4. why would the producers show us someone's funeral whom we never met And not tell us the name of the person? At least if they told us the name of the person in the episode we would wonder who the heck that was and look for that person in the future. but no name doesn't make sense.
5. Harold P was asked to be in this episode. I can't think of any other part he would be playing then the man in the casket.
6. someone pointed out that Jack might be so upset that Michael died because he might be a person who knew how to get back to the island.

so i am pretty sure it is suppose to be Michael in that casket.

WHY I THINK IT IS SAWYER AND NOT MICHAEL IN THE CASKET

Michael is a likeable guy and befriends easily. Sawyer is a loner, con man and a drifter. There would be no reason for Michael to relocate from New York to Los Angeles, and his son would certainly attend his viewing.

During season 1, when Sawyer reveals to Jack that he met his father in Sydney, he also tells Jack, you are the closest person I have to a friend. There is no question that Sawyer has a deep respect for Jack and Jack knows it. We also know that Sawyer is in rapid decline on Kate's favorite list.

It would make sense for no one to attand Sawyer's viewing, except Jack. It is Jack's character to care and fix those that are beyond redemption.

5/31/2007 01:41:00 PM
Blogger Claude said...

Bruce,

As far as Sawyer being in the coffin and not Michael: Why wouldn't Kate want to attend the funeral?

We know that Sawyer has a daughter, not a son. For Sawyer to have a teenage son, the flash forward would have to be at least 13 years since they got off the island, and it didn't seem that far in the future. Jack's cell phone was current tech, and nothing we saw looked futuristic.

bruce,
If you're right about it being Sawyer, this has to be WAY in the future to explain the teenage son thing. Although I kind of like that idea, I feel like at least Hurley would show up, or at least Sawyer's baby momma. Just my thoughts. Could this be soon enough to the present that it couls be someone who dies on the island, and was brought to the states for burial? Or is that crazy? I don't know the rules on shipping dead bodies...

Clustin,
What day should we expect the podcast?

There are tons of prop errors - I would not take the newspaper clipping as gospel. (Locke having conflicting birth dates on props, Jack having a airplane ticket for 2009. Ben giving Juliet a cancer chart for her sister that says male 180 pounds, etc).

We know Sawyer to be a drifter and it is quite possible that he has other kids besides Clementine.

Would Jack be more shocked that Kate does not attend a Michael funeral or a Sawyer funeral?

on the subject of who is in the coffin:

i think based on the information we have, michael seems like the safest bet. however, we don't know when jack FF took place. if it's been a while, any number of things could've happened from the time jack calls naomi's boat to his suicide attempt. not only could it be some person we have yet to meet, it could also be a character who is currently still on good terms with people, but who will eventually do something to alienate others like kate and jack. if it's sawyer, it doesn't make that much sense based on what we know, but if sawyer does something horrific that we don't know about yet it's possible. it's possible sawyer has some illigitimate son he's hasn't heard of yet. he's probably the kind of guy who'd donate to a sperm bank for some cash.

taking into account the clues and what we know, plus the way the christian shephard/claire thing played out i would guess michael. but, i think it would be really cool if something totally twisted like Jin (hey, he could be having a boy with Sun, we don't know. and Sun might have died already or maybe they became estranged which is why she wasn't at the viewing.) Anything's possible.

In short:
He was a leader on the island, things started to fall apart there, and when they were all forced to leave the island, he became nothing more than a pathetic cult leader who had a "truth" or knowledge that no one believed.
It was Jack's last connection to the island and the possibilty of going back.

Why did this person commit suicide?

Why would no one show up to the viewing?

Why were there no religious symbols at the viewing?

Why was Jack surprised that Kate (and only Kate) did not attend the viewing?

Why was Kate ambilivent to the suicide?

Why did the news of this suicide so drepress Jack that he did not just contemplate suicide but actually was in the process of committing suicide?

Longest...podcast...EVAR!! Woohoo. Unbelievable, Claude and Justin are.

I think I've been suffering a little post-partom (sp?) depression after the season finale. Think I was in denial that it was the last epi of the season. Yeah, funny, they did call it a finale!

I'm still trying to make sense of the flash forward. I'm starting to lean to the theory that what we saw was the absolute end scene of LOST. How brilliant would that be if so? The remaining episodes of the series would be catching us up to the flashforward. Maybe for the rest of the series, in place of flashbacks, we get flashforwards?

I think the person in the coffin is someone we haven't met yet. Of the characters we have met, Michael makes the most sense, but I think we Lost fans try to plug square pegs into round holes too often based off of the limited info and context we have.

Wow, over 13 hours. You've outdone yourselves. Off to listen, 420brownie is.

Claude, I'm going to listen to it nice and slow so it won't be me. :)

To make a Lost comparison, I think right now we all feel like Charlie did when he found the huge stash in the plane. LOL.

LMAO WOA DUDES WHAT A PODCAST! LOL I didn't really think my theories would go.. I mean If it turns into sliders it'll have officially jumped the shark! there MAY be something LIKE that ( LOL me and my capitalizing) but it'll have to be SUBTLE, like Lost's paranormal/pseudo science aspects . Something like Desmond's flashes I'd say. Honestly I just hope they don't start off the island and have the whole show getting back. That'd be boring I think. The island is the center of the show after all. Honestly I don't know WHAT they'll do.. I just hope it's as amazing as Lost has been in the past ... UGH I can't wait for the next season.. what'll I do? GREAT podcast by the way WOW!

Great podcast guys, hope u guys have a break after that 1.(not for too long though :) )

(btw I finished a few hours ago, although it was a bit unfair since I'm in Sydney and there have been more daylight hours to listen to it here than in the US)

oh, also i noticed Claude using the "begs the question" thing to annoy Justin. Now you just need to somehow squeeze in the triple whammy sentence i made up that Justin wrote down after the Greatest Hits podcast stopped recording.

13 hours?!?! Omg You guys are insane. This is gonna be a blast to listen to. Thanks guys. Wow, it's gonna take me forever to finish. But that's good. More LLD is more gooder.

great podcast!

i'm disagree that it's michael in the casket. I think it's Ben...the whole annie scenario is yet to be explored. What if she got pregnant by Ben and she leaves the island (around the time of the purge; and also in trade for his father's "murder") to deliver her baby? Hence, Ben is the father that never was, and he raises Alex.

Hey guys! Awesome podcast! finally finished listening. haha, thanks for the shoutout :P

wow, i think you're way off on the michael thing. I think he's gone for good. Who knows if Michael ever reached land? maybe the sub intercepted them...I think it's too much of a risk for Ben to take to have them really leave the island. My bet's on Ben that's in the casket.

and you bring up a great point about the freighter. Why would they have a rescue mission at night? it doesn't make sense.

oh, and demi moore in indecent proposal, good movie.

OK I'm just 1/2 way through.

As to the either/neither controversy, you are correct what difference does it make. It sure as hell sounds that Matthew Fox as a drugged out Jack Shepard shound either. But closed captioning, the transcript and the context of "are you friends or family?" makes sense the word is neither. What I find entertaining is how some LOST fans will drefend staunchly it is EITHER, yet will excuse Jack for indicating his father is still alive. If you are going to say Jack slurs his words and makes little sense, who cares if he says either, he was suppose to say neither.

MY WACKIEST THEORY EVER - I am writing that while experimenting with oxycodone.

Jack is in the casket - yes he is living in a multi timeline. We know he is suicidal and strung out. He read of his alternate self committing suicide so he decided to do likewise.

If you do not believe me ask his teenage son, Zviuc Latham,

Hey guys... just wading into the podcast... I'm about 5 hours deep, and great job so far...

Just wanted to add that "Explain this to me like I'm a 5-year-old" is Denzel Washington's catch phrase from "Philadelphia"

WOW! What a great podcast! I tend to listen to them twice so I think 26 hours is enough time to call someone a LOST freak...although I wouldn't say that myself.

Fabulous job C & J!

Blogger radiant_redhead said...

btw, radiant is an adjective that is really an inside joke. You just had to have been there. I could have used "vibrant", but I'm drawn in by the alliteration with both "r"s.

I know you all envy me!...(who am i kidding?!?)

If my 'math' is correct,

I think that Locke woke up in the mass grave, and "raised from the dead" on the 3rd day. Sound familiar? (You know, the Bible, the Easter story!)

If so, this house called that it would happen that way the night he was shot.
The writers so often use religious and philisopical refernces that it is hard to dismiss them.

I finally found the time to listen to your podcast - I'm so impressed that its thirteen hours long - didn't expect anything less.

I laughed really hard at the "worker lady" comment near the end of the first half, mostly because I am one XD

And we're called pharmacy technicians, for future reference.

Can't wait to listen to part II!
