I liked it. It was definitely the best Sun and Jin episode they've done yet. I wonder how Juliet is going to get samples from all the women is less than a week. And why is she certain to get Kate's next? I need to further digest this episode.
The others must assume that with the island's super sperm capabilites, that Kate must be pregnant from Sawyer.
Also, I'm guessing that based on Naomi's statement that there weren't any survivors of 815, that the others must have been able to stage a crash scene.
Juliet's "I hate you" comment shows that she is still doing whatever it takes to get off of the island. She seems like she isn't a bad person, but will do whatever it takes to leave. She must either know that or beleive that there is another way off of the island.
Mikey is back and we he confirms something that we've kind of know all along, that the island will heal and heal quickly. What was he doing on that part of the island? Did he see Noami's beacon light as she crashed into the island? Was he responding to the flare? Was he able to track her coming to the island, and was out to look for her?
hurley and charlie were pretty funny tonight. and surprisingly nobody but desmond was being an idiot (yeah just let the guy who mysteriously rose from the dead and stole from you go out of the kindness of your big ol' monk heart, desmundo. he can't possibly be of ANY practical use to you or the Losties *smack forehead, dumbfounded*).
the flashbacks excellent, which was unusual for characters we've known since the beginning. if only jin knew sun was responsible for his "promotion" into the Korean mob...
and if Sun has two months I'm not worried. She has at least another season, island time, before she's in mortal danger. they'll figure something out.
whether she's being compassionate or conniving, i love juliet! that "i hate you" to ben was both awesome and well acted.
so the Losties are all dead huh? i thought the producers said the island definitely wasn't purgatory? this must have something to do with time travelling/fate/multiple outcomes.
can't wait for the podcast next week! you guys sure will have a lot to talk about :)
naomi said there were no survivors; they were all dead. dead or never found? did the others produce a fake flight full of dead clones?
mikey's brain hemmorage wasn't fatal? hmm... i knew kate should have lifted that eyepatch when he "died" and poked out that eye with a stick.
i loved "i hate you."
i have a thought about the "no survivors" thing...
the producers have said that desmond turning the fail-safe key had major repurcussions we would learn about later in s3. could this weirdness with the plane being found have something to do with that?
i'm way to tired to think of any theories in more detail (did the sky turning purple change time? create the illusion of a plane crash? reset events and change outcomes?)
just thought that was interesting
I thought this episode was pretty good. I cared more about the Desmond/Charlie storyline with Naomi, then I did Sun and Jin's pregnancy, still it was cool.
When the ending came I was talking to the TV saying "LOST has jumped the shark!" I just have a problem getting used to all this time travel/different time lines thing which the cliffhanger seams to be hinting at. I had the same reaction to "Flashes Before Your Eyes" when we learned Desmond sees "flashes" of the future, but now I've gotton used to it. Still the more they expand on the whole time thing I just finding it too weird. But to paraphrase damon and carlton "The moment that Lost stops trying to jump the shark will be the moment that Lost stops being interesting ( or something to that effect)" Like paul in nyc said "I need to further digest this episode."
A few points:
* I totally had a Lost deja vu when Sun was working in her garden and Jack came up. Didn't we see a very similar scene sometime back in season 1?
* Another Lost deja vu was when Juliet put her hand on Sun's mouth. It totally reminded me of Ethan kidnapping Claire except that Juliet is a bit nicer and holds out her hand instead of just grabbing her.
* So I'm confused about the staff/medical hatch. Were all those Doctors in the surgery room that according to Alex were going to cut Claire's baby out of her in Maternity Leave Fake or Real since theres this "hidden" room.
* David3 said...
"The others must assume that with the island's super sperm capabilites, that Kate must be pregnant from Sawyer."
I'm starting to think so too.
* I guess those island healing powers that Mikhail mentioned really worked wonders on his cerebral hemorrhage. I don't think I even saw a scar!
Also, why was Mikhail so intent on stealing the satalite phone, is he scared to go back to the Others because he lead Kate/Locke/Sayid to Otherville? Maybe he can't find the Others and doesn't know where they went. Could he start being the male version of Rousseau? An outcast from the Others, Trekking about the jungle? Hey, he's got an accent and he's slightly crazy, maybe Mikhail and Rousseau should hook up!
* I really liked the dynamics and arguing between Charlie and Desmond in this episode, it kinda reminded me of Jack and Locke in season 2.
* Finally Jin got to do something more then be a happy fisher and contribute useless lines. That fight with Mikhail was sick!
I just gotta mention that the next two episodes look like they are gonna be awesome and I can't wait!
this was a GREAT one! We learned that Jin IS Suns Baby daddy, Sun is now on the death list ( I hope she's saved somehow ) , PATCHY is still alive( I LOVE PATCHY! ), we have a new person from the outside world AND we hear that they FOUND Flight 815 and there were no survivors!!!! WOW WHAT A SHOW!!!
I can't WAIT till next week when Locke and Sawyer team up! The real Mr. Sawyer is GOING DOWN!!!

I'm starting to think so too. I agree,Juliette Talking about Kate in her message to Ben.. makes me think theres a good chance shes preggers ( HA HA Justin )as It seemed she was there doing research on all the women who WERE or may be pregnant. On another note, the first time I saw Patchy and Rousseau together I thought " now THERE's a cute couple " LMAO

Well he does man the "communication hatch" and since as we know the "comms" are still down, maybe he stole it to try and re-establish connection to the outside world. with his military and communication background, he might be like sayid with his electronic know how...
of course there's also the fact that the Others probably don't want the Losties to be able to contact outsiders, so maybe Mikhail was just trying to prevent such a possibility.
Wow. that was a suprisingly good episode; above mediocre and better than last week. I almost lost hope until about 20 minutus into the hour where things started to pick up and we got into the meat of the episode. The flashbacks and the island story actually both kept me interested, and the acting was well done. It's weird that the flashbacks seem to have nothing to do with the island story anymore. They could've switched these flashbacks for the Glass Ballerina ones and it would've fit better.
Anyway, since my thoughts are scattered, I'll just bullet-point a few things...
-Why do Korean people refer to currency in American dollar amounts?
-What's up with the Parachutist's mult-lingual crap?
-Why wasn't Mikhail at least deaf or somtething? Did he really die or just badly injured, then healed?
-Mikhail is obviously trying to establish communications again.
-I didn't understand the whole Sun versus Jin's mom thing. Their was no singificant threat. Was she going to leak Jin's background information to the Press?
-I feel like we finally learned more about Sun and Jin. As we all know, character development in flashbacks have become scarce this season; but I think we connected a few dots this time. We got to hear more on Jin's family and the bitter duality of the rich family decling the poor family and vice versa. We also kind of found out why Jin was eventually hired as an assasin.
-The baby's paternity revelation was a bit anti-climactic, especially having waited for it so long; but at least it created some conflict.
And finally,
-We got to see a glimpse of what Juliet's real feelings are. We can infer that she is trying to finish her research so she can get off the island. And she hates Ben.
So, Claude, who's your favorite Juliet? Do you like sneaky, deal-making badass Juliet or sweet and caring Juliet who will do anything to escape?
WHAT..?
LOST
Hey guys, pretty good episode... you-know-who mentioned that the b-storyline was better than the main story, and I totally agree... I haven't liked any of the Jin/Sun flashbacks before, but this one was slightly better than rest...
I find it interesting that in the last 2 episodes they dropped a bomb on us in the final scene... they are definitely building to something, and I hope it's worth it (I suspect it will be)...
The Lostpedia article on the parachute girl says that her line to Mikey was not "thank you for saving my life" (or whatever) but it was Portugese for "I am not alone"... woah... I don't know how much that line can be addressed in the show - since no one speaks Portugese (why did Paolo have to die, WHY!!!) she may as well have been reciting a nursery rhyme...
One more thing... with all the jokes from Damon and Carlton about Rousseau's Eastern European accent, is it that hard to believe that she and Mikey do have a connection? Especially with them both running around the jungle now, maybe someone happens upon them making dirty, wrinkled love in a rainstorm...
Sorry for the imagery there.
--Joe.
Alright, one more point:
Why would the parachute girl have a copy of Catch-22 in her bag? Was there a lot of down time on this helicopter mission to a mysterious island?
Maybe Penny gave her the book and she said "Why do I need a book?" and Penny said "Shut up, it will make sense to the audience."
Here is a theory what if the others work for the government and are doing research on the mysterious island and the plane crash was covered up by the government so that the others could use the losties as controls for the experiment its just a theory but could explain alot about how powerful the others are and how they have all the information about the losties and how they had a submarine and how their communications station was so powerful ehh its just a theory

Yeah, I guess that depends if Mikhail likes what the Others are doing and is staying with them and on the island on his free will. But If he actually wishes he wasn't with the Others he might have stole the phone for his own selfish reasons to try and get himself off the island. Anyway good thought.

Wow, I never thought I'd hear someone mourn Paulo's death :)
But yeah, he'd finally useful to the actual plot now if he was alive.

I really like that theory.
But I'm thinking if they really were a secret government group then they'd probably have they're own equipment instead of using all of Dharmas old stuff.
So is there gonna be a live podcast or not? For me it would be better if you did it earlier in the day
Just saw this comment on the transmissions site.
"I also saw on The Fuselage that parachuter said, “I’m not alone.” So I’m thinking perhaps Penny is on the island and maybe Jin wanted to go the other way because he saw a different beacon?"
Interesting. I can't wait for the Desmond/Penney reunion. It's gonna be such an iconic great moment, but I think it's gonna come near the end of the show. They're gonna have to go through lots of Naomis before the get to Penny.
Speaking of which, Naomi's accent is HOT! :)

Man, Your totally right. Seriously my new favorite ship is Roukhail. :)
Why was Jack so interested in checking on Sun, making sure she is okay? Does this hint at he and Juliet working together to get off the island? After the encounter, Jin expresses distrust in Jack to Kate, as well.
So, the deal is, I'm enjoying all the different threads (the Locke-Ben-Cooper thread, the Desmond-Penny thread, the Sawyer-Cooper-Locke thread, & more) but how are any of them going to come together? My other question is how does any of this relate to older threads that are on the back burner (aka. Libby in mental institution, Karl & Room 23).
From what we've learned in the past few months, can we relate that new information to any of the back burner threads?
About DOC, I think Sun was okay allowing Jin to work for her father because she wanted to spare Jin's father having to see Jin find out his mother was a ho. After the sacrifice Jin's father made to raise him, even though Jin might not be his son, Sun thought it only fair that Jin make that sacrifice.
Why did Naomi look directly at Mikey and say "I'm not alone"? Does it imply a connection between Penny and Dharma, or Charles Widmore and the Others (or some combo of the above)?
LOL I rewatched the part where Charlie offers to take Patchy's other eye in return for respect! The funnier part is where Patchy cups his ear and says he can't hear him. I think it was a joke about how the sonic fence blew up his ears just a couple days ago :)
Oh, and was I the only one that thought it was absurd that Sun forgot about the 100g's in her purse when she told Jin the mail key was there? Lame writing ;) But the rest of the writing is awesome, so I'll let little stuff like that go.
Dammit, one more thought. If Mikey lost an eye, and got his ears blowed up with a sonic weapon fence, why can he hear 2 days later, but it still wearing a patch?
phat_cartman: i think Naomi was so out of it that she didn't know who Mikey was. i heard on one of The Official Lost Podcasts that the character Naomi is not an other and not a lostee.
Next episode: EPISODE2 - Lost Lowdown Podcast LIVE, Sat, April 28, 2007 05:00 PM
Is this Eastern time or PAcific time?
This is really out there and embraces time travel theories, but...
I was thinking that maybe what Naomi said was true, for her. What if she came from the future (real time) and they indeed do (will) find 815, and they are all (by then) dead?
It's bittersweet, it's kooky,
it's "LOST."
Time does pass differently on the island...

I hear you. Maybe the island healing powers have specific limitations? Can you really regrow an eyeball?
Mikhail didn't heal that fast, in Par Avion (The episode with the fence) Charlie mentioned that they were on the island for 80 days and in D.O.C Juliet said they were there for 90 days so he had a good ten days.

Maybe she was telling him that she wasn't alone because her comrades were hurt (remember the helicopter) and she wanted him to help them too.
I hope Naomi will become a new main character in the show like Desmond, because Lost really needs some more females. It's about four women and eight men right now.

But wouldn't he die from 10 days of lack of water and food? Also, his clothes didnt seem soiled for lack of a bathroom. Then again neither did Sayid's after being hooked up to that swingset for three days.
Sayid can hold it. he's a soilder after all. ;)
What up? Holy crap I've been slammed at work all week, did good to get the episode in. Also, been having trouble coming to grips with pretty much the debunking of my underwater wormhole theory. I guess flight 815, the real Henry Gale's balloon and Yemmi's plane weren't enough to convince me previously, but now we have another person arriving via air. Damn.
When I first realized it was a Jin and Sun episode (note to self, to be completely spoiler free, probably a good idea not to watch "previously on"...) I have to admit I got a sinking feeling, but I thought it ended up being a pretty good episode with some nice answers.
I was really hoping for more answers from Naomi, but I'll take what I can get. Yeah, Mikhail showing up was crazy. The first time Jin chases him down, Jin ends up kicking his ass, I thought it was pretty cool. Hurley can be so annoyingly dingy at times, ..."hey mr crazy eyepatch other we found a satelitte phone". Mikhail probably stroked when he heard that.
Nice to know pretty definitively that Juliet is not 100% in-step with the Ben. She's got her reasons for basically co-operating with Ben, but I have a feeling if she sees a way out, she might just take it.
I have a feeling the last few episodes of the season are going to be f'ing awesome, the last two episodes weren't too bad to tide us over to the meat of the story.
By the way, thought the Catch 22 podcast was great. Just right length-wise (that's what she said) with just the right amount of comedy mixed in.
Gonna try my best to be at the podcast tomorrow, looking forward to it. Later.
Yeah, I guess regeneration is pretty different from healing. 10 days? Island time is usually so slow, I didn't realize it was so long. But good question, WTF has Patchy been up to all that time? Maybe he's gone renegade for fear of having failed Jacob.
I have a real tough general Lost question that I have been wondering about for awhile. I am also you are all aware of the situation, but I do not think it was ever discussed,
...
I think we all know that sometimes the Others use last names and sometimes first names for the Losties. I think they only use first names between themselves.
For example
Juliet will say Ben but never refer to him as Linus
But at times refers to Kate as Kate or Austin.
****
My question is, what is the pattern?
****
For example do they use last names when they need them for a project? Is the alternating first and last name some sort of code for something?
I know they used full names when Ms. Klugh made out the list for Michael.
Any thoughts
We learned that Jin's dad may not have actually fathered him.
Also, a sad twist would be if Jin's dad was working with the prostitute to get $100,000 from Sun.
Also is Hurley just fucking up or is Hurley sabotaging the losties?
Question for Claude and Justin
When you stop recording the podcast, do you say "I hate you podcast listeners!?"
WHAT? Bruce! Why would you say that! They don't HATE us.
bruce,
i too have been trying to figure out a pattern with the first names/last names etc. but i think it's a lost cause. no pun intended.
ben did refer to her as "claire" and not "littleton" when he mentioned that her implant was activated.
didn't the others also refer to danny pickett as both "danny" and "pickett"?
why would ms. klugh introduce herself to michael as such instead of "bea"?
i dunno.
Hey guys, how does Talkshoe work, do I have to call in on the phone, or is it possible to *only* use my computer if I have a mike?
Sorry, I looked through all the FAQ's on the Talkshoe page, but I still don't understand.
Not signing my name because I'm embarrased.
Please don't be embarrassed.

Anon,
Like Elias said, if you just want to listen, then you can log into the Talkcast with just your computer. And you can use the chat feature to communicate with us and the rest of the people on there.
If you want to actually talk to us when we open up the discussion, then yes, you will need to call in or use Skype type program.
Bruce,
No we don't say that. Never would, even jokingly.
Who's excited for the LIVE podcast?
indeed excited Claude. frothing at the mouth like Bakunin.
Bruce - Hurley saved Naomi's life by firing the flare.
Ooh Live Podcast! So pumped. This is gonna be my first one..... I was gonna say something kind of gross. Nevermind.
Anyhooo, I don't even know what to make of this episode. I really liked it but by the end I was kinda like "Wha??". So confused.
Next week is gonna be awesome. ugh I can't believe it's almost over :(
For some reason Safari isn't cooperating with Talkshoe- everytime I click the Join In link, I get a Safari can't open page error. I'm gonna keep tryin'. I've got the 3-year old, so unless we want the show to sound like Cliff and Stephanie, I probably won't call-in.
420,
good luck

damn, I missed the live podcast! I was busy at basically the exact time slot it was going on. I thought it might have been a 4 or 5 hour podcast and that I could catch the end. Hopefully I'll listen next time. I say you guys should do a live podcast for episode 20.
SPOILER WARNING
Episode 20 is a Ben centric episode and it's called "The Man Behind The Curtain" and it's gonna be awesome.
Next week is gonna be cool too, but if you guys don't want to do a live one next week, do one for episode 20.

Want to save Sun's life - 1 word - abortion
hey guys, great live podcast. it was fun. hope you will do a live podcast again. maybe you can do a live podcast after the season is over. you could cover the entire season 3.
paul in nyc: he! still no GSPN podcast. very strange...
as my friend said, living on the island would make it a lot easier to convince a girl to, uh, you know, let you go into her back door. either that, no sex, or die.
vickih,
i hope she didnt finally do it.
bruce, i agree with you, but the island bible states that if you abort your baby, smokey will throw you against some trees. why do you think eko and the pilot got killed by smokey?
These final four episodes are going to be great!
About Sawyer's Eyes:
I don't think the island would heal his poor close-up vision. His eyes are perfectly healthy, the shape of his corneas are curved (or not curved) to make reading uncomfortable.
He's engaging in an activity that causes him discomfort due to the normal, healthy working of his body, so the island won't do much except cut the pain after he stops doing what he's doing.
It would be the same if he was hitting his hand repeatedly with a hammer. It would hurt while he was doing it, would probably hurt for a while after he did it, and would take a while for the island to cut the pain.
He's healing from the discomfort he's causing himself, but before he can *completely* heal, he re-injures himself.
Similiar to the Federal Agent. He was severely injured in the crash, and would have healed but Sawyer shot him. Then he would have survived, but Jack euthanized him. He would have been fine, but continued to be injured until he died.
I wonder if some of the intervention Jack was taking with Boone might have somehow canceled out the healing process of the island? That would explain why he didn't survive. I think blood transfers, even with the right match, can cause shock and subsequent death. Someone please remind me, how did we know for sure what blood type Boone was? Didn't Shannon just say what she *thought* it was? That could have killed Boone even if he would have survived otherwise!
It's possible that Jack is running around killing people. Someone has to stop him!!
paul in nyc,
i guess he is still safe.LOL they did a podcast this week.
vicki h.
i just dl it. it's like watching a train wreck.

Was it that Jack had the "universal donor" bloodtype?
I think I recall something like that.
maybe he's blowing damon and carlton
Well, well, I've never seen this page so quiet! Are we all still reeling from the live podcast?
OK, I have not had time to listen to the live podcast yet, so if my questions was covered there, just smack me.
So it is Sun's fault that Jin got into the mafia, right? But in a previous episode (glass balerina maybe) she was going to leave him and was cheating on him because he was off doing mafia stuff all the time. I liked Sun, but I am changing mind if she brought this upon herself.
I think everyone was busy preparing for May Day.
Did you guys hear the Claude and Justin shoutout on the latest Lost Community Podcast?
*clears throat*
um... no comment on this pic of Cliff: http://www.ravenscraft.org/wp-stuff/cliffinframe.jpg
Re: May Day
Yes, thankfully I got my baskets done early this year
Radnac,
Thanks for the heads up!
Word! Can't wait for tonight's episode.
Loved the live podcast, hated I couldn't get logged-in, not sure why Talkshoe wouldn't cooperate, worked like a charm last time. But I thought you guys were in top form.
Justin, you're like a walking Lost-a-pedia when it comes to keeping track of connections, but especially remembering episode sequences and episode titles. How do you do it? Does the same ability carry over to the real world?
MekareQ- are you a doctor or some sort of health professional? You are always very knowledgeable on those sorts of issues, seems like you know your stuff.
I'm a massage therapist, I don't know anything real, but you do pick up incidentals when you go to school for a year in a hospital, and when you work in a doctor's office. :-)
