Hey guys, just listening to the podcast. :)

The reason they gave Rachel an illness was because they wanted to tell you why Juliet didn't take Rachel with her to the island. Remember the Mitellos guy in the end says, you can't bring Rachel because "she wouldn't have access to the treatment she needs". I'm pretty sure that's why they wrote that in.

Another theory I have is that that she got sick in the first place because of the experiments Juliet was doing on her. And now that she's pregnant, they can get the toxins that didn't work out of her.

Let me know what you guys think!

Ash

What up bitches? Just finished the podcast, stellar analysis as usual. There really was a ton to digest from the episode.

I guess I just need to get past it, but I really cannot get my mind around Juliette and her sister TRYING to get her pregnant while she's obviously very, very sick. That line, "now I just have to get well", just blows me away. The thing about it, there has to be a good reason for them to write in that the sister is sick-presumably with cancer. And anonymous, good thought, but there are other ways to write the story that would remove the sister as an obstacle. Maybe it's just as simple as Juliette needed a test subject, sis was the only one available, cancer be damned. But then, why does she have to have cancer? Ahhhhgggggg!

Seems like Ben is handing out "get off island for free cards" like they're going out of style. Will be interesting to see how geniune he is with his offers. Since Jack took a little "detour" in surgery, is his deal off? Maybe Juliette just took his spot on the boat...or plane...or worm-hole traveling vessel.

Looking forward to tomorrow night's episode, but I'm also a little nervous at the same time. Desmond, cool. Claire, not so much. God, if Claire's around, Charlie can't be far behind. Well, hopefully we'll learn some cool shit about what happened to Desmond after he turned the key.

Later taters. Thanks for the shout-out. Claude, crack-pot theory: Mittelos "convinces" Juliette's sister to tell Juliette that she's pregnant and giving her positive pregnancy tests to show Juliette as proof.

#1. I don't think Cindy knew anything about the others when she was on the plane. She may have been "compromised" by her time with the others, but I don't think that makes her a mole any more than Michael was a mole.

#2. I don't feel like the others hang out on that small island under normal circumstances. Maybe you're right, but it seems like a lot of work with almost no benefit until now.

Thanks for listening MekareQ...

Ash,

I see your point. But they could have written Rachel without the illness and just had Dr. Alpert say "this is a closed facility, employees only." There has to be some reason why they wrote her with an illness. I hope we find out soon.

420, what up, bitch?!
Mittelos having Rachel fake an illness and/or the test results is interesting. But I feel like if the fertility drug doesn't really work, that makes Juliet seem not as good as a candidate to work for them.

Oh, and I should mention the connection between Rachel's mysterious illness and the "sickness" on the island. Connection or Coincidence?

Curt,

Are you posting as you listen to the podcast? That's awesome. Unlike Justin, I don't think it's crazy that someone on the plane knew it was going to crash. But I don't think it would fit in to how things as played out so far. If someone on the plan is an Other, that means the Others knew the plan was going to crash, which meant they knew Desmond wasn't going to push the button. And if they knew the plane was going to crash, why send Ethan and Goodwin to get a list of names if you could just get the manifest after the plan took off?

OK, I'm dying to hear you guys' thoughts on "flashes". My head still hurts thinking about it.

A couple of tidbits from last week's episode. I read on Lostcasts' blog where someone said part of the dialogue between Ben and Juliette was him telling her, "I was driving the bus". Wow. How crazy is that , if true. Big if. I'm always a little leery of this stuff, kinda like the whispers.

Second tidbit, also read that in the brainwashing room, there was backwards audio that when played normally said something like, "only fools are limited by space and time."

Great podcast you guys! Fun,long with good a analysis of the episode as usual.. And yes, this was a very good episode of Lost, maybe the best this season. I think it would be much better if this episode was the last to air in november, wrapping up the miniseries.

Looking forward to hear your thoughts on Flashes before your eyes, witch i just saw.. and this one was also very good.. there is nothing to rant about actually. They did a good job, glad they focused so much on what happened to Des and the failsafe.

I'm very excitet to next week episode were 3 of the biggest mysteries are revield - according to the promoes that is.. yeah right, but the writers also have hinted to something huge next episode.

you guys make pigs smoke!

I'm with Brownie. Very interested to hear your thoughts on Flashes.

Did you notice that on the recap show before Portland it showed the scene from Hunting Party where Jack is looking at the x-ray/MRI/whatever that has a date of 11/2005. I thought that it was very strange that they would make a point to show something that so many people believed had to be a continuity error. After seeing flashes, do you think it could be an "alternate timeline" where Jack never turned in his dad in 2004, and hence Christian never went to Autralia and drank himself to death.

Just a thought. Looking forward to the podcast!

This comment doesn't have anything to do with the episode or the podcast, but 'you make pigs smoke' is definitely my new favortie phrase. Now I just have to figure out what it means.

Also, I think anon's 2nd theory about Juliette's sister's sickness is the most plausible yet. If it turns out that she does have cancer or some other terminal illness seperate from the aggressive and experimental treatments Juliette is giving her, i think the purpose will be to introduce some ethical ambiguity to what Juliette is doing for science and her own ambition.
Flashes Before Your Eyes was much better than I thought it would be (i was expecting a sort of Further Instructions letdown) but more on that later.
