i don't believe for a second that this episode was ever supposed to air before "316," and think this news about switching the two episodes was simply a tactic designed to generate publicity for both episodes. think about it: the "flashforwards" to the island (in this episode) would never have worked had we not known about the return home (from the last episode). even if those parts were written afterward, what would have been the flashforwards, locke is back in the states, and showing sawyer and juliet wouldn't have kept their fate in suspense. ...i dunno, just a guess.

I guess the airstrip is good for something after all ;)

My personal groaner of this episode:
"What makes you think I'm so special?"
-"Because you are."

Do you 2 actually like Lost ?
You sit there giggling like girls and make fun of the show.

Seriously guys, if you don't like the show then give it up.

you might wanna listen to some of the older episodes of the podcast. One of the great things about this podcast in particular is, that the hosts analyze every single bit. Like the LOSTcasts hosts (who did an entire show only talking about the blast door map, which turned out to be a rather marginal plot point), they assumed that every detail in the show has a meaning. It has become pretty clear that this is not the case, a lot of the early plots turned out to be dispensable or dont add up with current ones, that's why Claude and Justin come across a bit sarcastic as of late. I'm not saying it makes for better content but I can certainly understand it ;)

You can like the show without loving every second of it. There are tons of cliche and corny things about Lost that have me laughing a lot of the times I watch it. Obviously Claude and Justin like the show, seeing as they have devoted hundreds of hours of their very busy lives to covering it. And seeing as they have literally billions of fans who listen weekly, I don't see any need for them to stop the production of this podcast.

For the most part, Claude and Justin's mocking is well deserved by the show. I will admit that a handful of times they have mocked and giggled at stuff they end up up being wrong about. Great Britain being an island and Exotic Matter, for instance. When that happens, I find the show a frustrating listen. We are all wrong at times. But, when you absolutely eviscerate something with derisive comments, it's good to be right. However, I think this is a relative rarity. This podcast is still much more worth a listen than just about any other Lost podcast.

I think the way Claude and Justin do it is absolutely fair. I'm glad they don't pretend that they love every line or every episode, like some other podcasts. Most of the mocking is well deserved due to the cliches the show comes back to repeatedly.

Of the many LOST podcasts out there, Claude and Justin are the standard-bearers for the very few hosts brave enough to call out the writers and producers when necessary, while most other hosts are shameless apologists.
Claude and Justin love LOST. Their detailed scrutiny and their countless hours of dedication are a testament to that.
Sometimes I feel that some of the criticisms they receive are from people that take only part of their conversations (out of countless hours) out of context. Any dedicated LOST fan would know that such criticism is unfair. That would be akin to taking an episode like S.O.S. or Further Instructions and using that to pass judgment on the entire LOST series.
Kudos to Claude and Justin! I know they will remain committed to their podcast to the end of the series.
They have become a part of my life just as much as LOST has, and I will be just as sad at the end of The Lost Lowdown, as I will with the end of LOST... perhaps more.

That is an incredibly powerful thing. Maybe we should pool in money and send C&J an armour to help them continue this epic battle which has taken many a podcasters as victims :p Anyways as far as being "standard bearers of Lost podcast" that is not even close. Lostcasts is much better podcast, I listen to LLD off and on and I can say this unequivocally that I get more insight from 45 minutes of a Lostcasts episode then a 5 hr LLD. Like the 'Sphinx and strangling connection' Lostcasts guys pointed out in this episode which I would not have thought of in a million years, on LLD they miss the obvious stuff like Locke possibly being the little prince not aaron. To be fair maybe C&J are not trying to be uber insightful but then people should not go claiming that this is the best lost podcast when that is clearly not the case.

Damon's Pants: quit acting like the Sphinx/Strangle matters at all other than some stupid little totem that doesnt move this ultra-contrived, overly mental masturbated junk pile of a story along. we watched 5 years of dialog that borders on the level of autistic children and youre worried about a sphinx painting on screen for 2 seconds?

and why even give Lostcasts any credit? just go look at their show notes for the links they got all their ideas from and skip the 45 minute podcast. now you have even more time to watch TV.

Wow. There are some high emotions here. I think it might be useful for everyone to take a deep breath and realize that the LLD is entertainment, and as such, some will find it enjoyable and some will not. I, for one, would never listen to a 45 minute podcast about Lost if that podcast was just about Lost. I enjoy listening to a 5 hr podcast about Lost, because C&J are self-aware and funny. After my guest appearances on the podcast, without fail I hear the same complaint-- that I tried to move it along too much, to get to the next scene and not spend so much time tangents. People who love the LLD love the tangent. If you don't want to hear 2 long time friends who basically record their phone conversations, then go somewhere else. The same way no one is going to hold a gun to my head and make me watch Grey's Anatomy even though I do not find it entertaining or insightful (in fact it makes me want to die), no one is making anyone listen to the LLD. PS I don't know what this Sphinx thing is, but I can already tell you that I, with my own brand of Lost-fandom, don't give a shit, because there is a 99% chance it will never come to anything. I'm not a shipper, I'm not a casual fan, but I have seen the show enough to feel this way. This series of comments has devolved into arguing about taste as if it were fact.

It might not matter at all, but neither does a 2 hour tangent about "how time travel works" so my 35 seconds listening to Sphinx/Strangle are a lot more productive then a 2 hour tangent about time travel. The Sphinx thing does not mean anything in lonmg term, it was probably just a nod/piece of cool forshadowing to those much more smarter and better read then us but in any case when I watch this episode again I will always look at that sphinx differently and it will enhance my experience.

That might be true but if you feel that and are still watching the show for 5 years what does that make you an "autistic child", a sucker or both? ;)

Actually they only have certain things in the show notes most of the stuff they come up with on show.
