I think you have a point. What they did is not any kind of normal con where the con artist gets money in the end. I would say that what they got was Sawyer being obedient. I would also say that a con can be very simple and unelaborate. They went to some trouble to convince him. I'd say it was more involved than the "necklace" con from "The Long Con", for instance.

This is the first podcast I've listened to from you guys and I just wanted to say that you guys crack me up!It's really helpful to hear you guys rehash everything...it makes me look at things from a different perspective I guess...Ok take care
Wow. I'm glad you enjoyed it. Sometimes I think the LLD is an acquired taste, but, maybe not.
do you remember a skit from "kids in the hall" .. with the two boys in a bedroom looking at celebrity magazines and talking about who's gay and who's not and stuff ... exactly ... you two are hilarious, keep up the good work

Beating dead horses is what the LLD is all about. I think that Ben thinks he earned Sawyer's respect, he said as much. However, I agree, I would just expect this to make Sawyer more angry.

I feel like you're implying something...but I don't know what. I never watched kids in the hall. Canadians aren't funny. I prefer Mr. Show with Bob and David for my sketchy laughs.
What I don't understand about The Others is why they feel the need to play these elaborate games with a group of people who crashed on the island through no fault of their own, many of whom died in the crash, and the rest who needed their help. And this idea that they aren't killers? That they're the good guys? Are they kidding? They've done nothing but sabotage, hurt, maim and kill people. And I still believe that Ben murdered the real Henry Gale. They didn't "con" anybody, they have something else going on, and like joe said, I think they've underestimated the resourcefulness and intelligence of people outside their group, like Sawyer and Jack for instance.
I guess I just have a savage antipathy towards them. They will forever be on my shitlist because they started out wrong when they began snatching folks up instead of helping all of the survivors.
